Superhero Girl 66

Hee hee! That whole 'holding someone at arm's length while they flail frantically at you' is kind of my favourite thing ever. I like how both Superhero Girl and Spectacle are surprised SHG can actually do that. Long arms, FTW! But don't worry about that crappy TV being smashed, Superhero Girl. Now you have an excuse to by an expensive flatscreen with all the money you don't have!

And with this comic, we are pretty much caught up with the current strips, so next week The Adventures of Superhero Girl will be going weekly instead of twice-weekly. I've been blown away by the support everyone's shown for the comic, and I hope the change in update schedule won't dissuade you from continuing to pass the SHG link around. It's been great fun to have a comic that updates more than once a week (a new thing for me!), but now the buffer's pretty much gone, so the SHG schedule must now reflect the rate at which I draw these comics ... which is one a week. :)

As for what day SHG will update, well, does anyone prefer a particular day? I really have no opinion... if there is a definite preference, I'll update that day. If not ... uh, I'll let my cat choose. :D

  1. Hi - great comic!

One complaint though - could you move the Newer/Home/Older Post navigation above or below the comic for easier access? Web master super powers FTW! ;)

    Keep up the awesomeness!

  2. Nice! Love the flailing of the arms.

I vote Tuesday or Thursday because there aren't many comics out there that update then and I like having a webcomic to read everyday.

Keep up the awesomeness! And good luck too.

  3. I can actually use my freakishly long arms to my advantage? This makes me smile.

  4. Love the comic - as allways.
I'd like the comic to update on tuesday. Since most webcomics update Mon-Wed-Fri or Mon-Thu, this makes Tuesday the most boring day at my workplace.

  5. Can't take that risk? CAN'T TAKE THAT RISK?! Well gee, Spectacle, you know all those innocent civilians you've been protecting? Someday, some of them might possibly turn evil, maybe. I guess you'd better KILL THEM ALL, since you can't take that risk. Start with the newborn babies: they might grow up to become supervillains, and it's easier to stop them early since YOU CAN'T TAKE THAT RISK. Sure, you'll end up with the blood of billions on your hands, but that's ok: you're doing it all for the greater good.

Gah. Stupidest excuse for attacking someone I have EVER seen.

  6. I. Love. The. Last. Three. Panels.

Ok, that just looks awkward with such a long sentence, but that doesn't make it less true.

  7. Wanderer's response totally amuses me. XD Don't worry, Spectacle does have a reason for acting the way she currently is... stay tuned!

  8. If you wanna get the "I don't want to be at work today" crowd, update on mondays. If you want to get the "I'm gonna chill and catch up on all my webcomics today" crowd - saturdays. I'd say the monday crowd as a larger demographic. NO work is done anywhere in the world between 9 and 10am monday. ;)

  9. Hmm, seems that Spectacle also has a secret power of making her whatchamacallthoselongsleevedmittentypeofthings disappear and then reappear :)

  10. Love the comic, keep up the good work!

I would put my chips on Tuesday; kind of a crappy weekday, good day for a lift

  11. I just love both their expressions in the last four panels.

Personally, I liked having the comic update on Fridays. Nice way to end out the work week.

  12. Can Spectacle come smash our old TV?

  13. I vote Friday as well. It's a good celebration of a week well dominated.

  14. I vote Wednesday. There aren't a lot of comics updating just on Wednesday, it's the middle of the week, and thus gives people incentive to look forward to "hump day" (as some refer to it, meaning you've reached the top of the hill and it's all downhill from there).

    And Wanderer is fun, isn't he? I'm halfway tempted to recruit him for webcomic commentaries at Tangents. It would be most amusing to see him grouse about things. ^^;;

  15. Is it wrong for me to notice that Superhero Girl has a great butt?

Oh, and Friday's good for me too.

  16. I don't have a preference for which day. I'll be here. :)

  17. I like Tuesdays because people hate Tuesdays because they're boring. Need a pick-up to brighten my day.

  18. The day doesn't matter to me because I have you in Google Reader. I will never miss it. Very enjoyable so far.
BTW, did you notice that Superhero Girl was mentioned on knittyblog[dot]com on June 8? We knitters get a bit excited when knitting is mentioned anywhere...

  19. @Faith: I'm sorry. It's just that attacking someone because they MIGHT be evil seems like such a stupid excuse to me. It's a flimsy justification. Not on your part, but on Spectacle's: she should be able to act and react more intelligently than this.

@Robert: Eh? I don't grouse. Not that much, anyway. If you just want people who are grumpy and complain about everything that happens, there are plenty of folks better suited to that than I am. Heck, the El Goonish Shive and Dominic Deegan forums are full of them. I do like to think that I see certain things from a somewhat different viewpoint, but that can just as easily be positive as it can be negative.

  20. I say let the cat choose every week!

  21. Wednesday, as that's New Comics Day?

But yes, strong argument for Monday.

  22. Faith, you said "Don't worry, Spectacle does have a reason for acting the way she currently is..." -- what, that D-bag supervillain from the party got to her? Or she's come down with a bad case of the stupids?

I vote Tuesdays. If you get it in late one week, it's still be up in time for New Comics Wednesday.

  23. I think this comic is awesome. :)

  24. No matter what day you update I will be there!

  25. By the way, Faith, you still have one more week of twice a week Superhero Girl comics. Since you did #67 last Thursday, that will be Tuesday's comic, and then #68 will be in "The Coast" this Thursday, which means it will be posted online here next Friday as the first truly new Superhero Girl comic posted here.

So, it's next next week that you'll be going to once a week Superhero Girl comics, not this week.

  26. I've decided to keep the online version of SHG one week behind the Coast version, because sometimes the Coast decides not to print the comics due to space restrictions. This way I'll have a buffer, and I'm not catching up or going beyond what's printed in the Coast.

  27. As long as the comic updates I think we'll all be happy :)

but uhm... >_> little flaw... Spectacle isn't wearing her arm warmer things in the top right panel. She has them on in all the other ones though... I do that to my own art ALL THE TIME >_<

  28. Wednesday/Thursday, please! Just because that's when a few other comics I'm into typically come out, and it's easier for me to remember to read all my comics on one day :P

  29. Sunday is my first choice. Not a lot of comics update then. Tuesday is my second choice.
